Hi, my husband has had 6 weeks of chemo and radiotherapy and has been left with no saliva. He has been told it could take 3 years to come back, if at all. Is there anything he can do for it, makes eating very difficult. Thank you
i found it really was a case of trial and error. even now i still have to drink while im eating to help things down but you do get used to it and i cope with eating most things. it was worse just after chemo but then everything is! life gets better and more manageable. there may be some foods that he might find he cant manage again but start to enjoy other things. my message is keep experimenting and you will find what works best. more gravy , more sauces, more soup and a glass of water with each meal seems to get me through. it was overnight that i found difficult waking up with a mouth so dry it was sore but that has improved to a point where i can manage again.
