Hi littlerosieuk1. I am only 18 months out of treatment and am suffering a cross between TMJ and trigeminal neuralgia. I am interested to hear that this is turns out to be a common complaint and that there are plenty more sufferers out there. It is jolly unpleasant. The neuralgia causes searing pains in the mouth, the masseter muscles seem to want to seize up although I can open the jaw, there are twinges along the mandible and into neck. I am using chiropractic treatment at the moment and I think Friday's treatment did make a difference - mouth very sore at the moment but I have been talking too much - never a good idea! My doctor has been trying me on nerve blockers which, to date, haven't made a scrap of difference. I am seeing him again on Wednesday to find out whether he wants to try anything else. This is actually the second lot of nerve blockers he has tried me on. The first lot dried my mouth out even more than usual which was negating the point of taking the Pilocarpine. Have had my teeth checked (I have been using the belt, braces and bicycle clips approach) and nothing is wrong there - at the moment, but we all know that can change however much care one takes.
