My mother has been diagnosed with ORN after about 7 ears after chemo. Treatment with HBO has been recommended which appears to be standard procedure. My question/concern is that she is 92 and otherwise in good physical health. What are the risks of this therapy and perhaps subsequent tooth extraction. And a timeline to return to recover. Also at this age what would happen if we do not do the treatment.

Hello Bill

You are best off discussing these issues with your mother's oncologist and maxillofacial surgeon as it all can depend on the circumstances of your mother's current health. Do let us know what is decided.

Best wishes
Vinod
