Morning Krishan , I am going to do the walk this year and wondered when they will be info available to show prospestive sponsers.
I am thinking of trying to get my local shops to sponser me Roll Eyes
But would be useful to have a basic explanation of details of the walk and our aims. This would be specially useful as I talk quiet and some still insist on shouting at me , I tell them but they do it again Banghead
So something to show them would be appreciated.

Looks like I have started a trend in updating our storys on RDOC which I think is important to show people we DO survive.

I'm definitely aiming to be there again this year with an even larger bevy of "Brenda's Bobby Dazzlers"!! The atmosphere was great last year and the weather was brilliant.

A wonderful opportunity for us all to meet up and put faces to the names we have been messaging all year round.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all! x
200 mins

I finished my treatment late November. My main problem is weight loss.I lost 3 and half stone taking me below 9.10.I have managed to get back up to 9.11
The Radiotherapy took its toll but I have been out for a couple of runs(and walks Smiler

Will keep in touch but I am already making plans for sponsorship
Robert

Yes, that was quite a loss. I went down from 11 stone to 9:07, now back up to just over 10 stone which is good enough for me.

Losing a bit of fat helps with running, but only after you've got the muscle back! The other thing is getting the blood count fully back - still eating marmite & drinking Guiness to help with that.
Thanks for the advance notice of the change of date.

I'll be coming again this year, and hope to run it again.

200 mins - whereabouts in Devon are you? My late husband was originally from nr Exeter so you may have seen bits about him in the local press as I try to raise funds and awarness for the MCF.

Hi Dave

I'm in Bristol, but my late husband (who had Mouth Cancer) was originally from Honiton, and lived/worked in Exeter and Sidmouth until 1998 when he moved to Bristol.

They'll be a fundraising cricket match at Sidmouth Cricket Club on Sunday 26th August if you're interested in coming along. Paul used to be a captain of the 2nd XI and every year now there is a Sidmouth Past v Sidmouth Present match which plays for the Paul Beament Memorial Trophy.

Let me know if you want any more information.

Hiya,
I'm seriously thinking about flying over (not literaly, on a plane!) and joining the walk. Could someone advise me on which airport to fly into and where to look for accommodation which would be near to the walk. I'm originally from Lancashire (no jokes please) and now living in Cork. I hate to admit but know nothing of the South of England at all. Any advice would be appreciated.SusieR
Dear All

I was thinking about the timing of the Walk:

Thinking “Is a 11:00am start really convenient for those wishing to participate from further away without having to come the day before and stay the night in London?”

So, I looked at the train timetables for various areas and found that even the earliest train service to London will be too late if travelling from:
Leeds (arrives at 11:28)
York (arrives at 11:28)
Birmingham (arrives at 11:00)
Doncaster (arrives at 10:47)
Sheffield (arrives at 10:47)
Hull (arrives at 12:19)
Liverpool (arrives at 12:55)
Newcastle (arrives at 13:15)
Durham (arrives at 13:15)
Glasgow (arrives at 15:40)

There are no problems with catching a train in time from:
Bristol
Southampton
Cardiff
Nottingham
Leicester
Reading
Oxford

It may not be possible to have a time that is suitable for all but it might just make it easier for more to attend if the start time was moved to later. So the start time has been moved to 13:00. Smiler This makes it more convenient for those from Leeds/Wakefield Wink , York, Birmingham, Doncaster and Hull. Now, only those from further North (Liverpool, Newcastle, Durham and Glasgow) wil be unable to make it a day trip. The Walk should finish by 15:30hrs.

--------------------
PARTICIPANTS ARRIVAL TIME: 12.00
EVENT START TIME: 13.00

All other information remains the same.

I hope as many of you will take the opportunity to meet up.

Best wishes
