Hi

I was diagnosed with mouth cancer 1 and half years ago. I had surgery and have been under surveillance since. Approximately 2 months ago an ulcer appeared on my tongue. It has not gone away and is growing. It is now the size of a pea and is excruciatingly painful. I have an appointment at GSTT on Friday but cannot bear the pain. Am taking paracetamol, ibuprofen and using diflam, bongela lignocaine spray....nothing helps. Any advice would be gratefully accepted and do you think the cancer is back?

Get yourself some Iglu mouth ulcer gel from the chemist. Ideally you want the stuff from over the counter.

Use a cottonbud to dry the area and then put a pea sized piece on the ulcer (use the other end of the cottonbud to smooth it over. Iglu contains lidocaine.

I'm not a medical professional, so I can't help you with that question. I bet you're very worried though
