Hi I'm Mellen and live in the U.S. I'm worried. 6 six years ago I noticed changes down south and was examined by an obgyn - that told me the changes in the skin - were """just me.""" I was upset about this, because it didn't look that spotty before. During this time I had broken up w/ a boyfriend that had his own ideas about what truth or """exclusive""" meant. (i.e. if I didn't ask - then he wasn't hiding anything). I moved and got a second opinion. I was treated for HPV w/ some kind of frozen liquid. It did not resurface, but I know that it's not curable and when I'm ill I worry that I'll have an outbreak. Needless to say I'm not trusting and have not had relations in 3 years after that experience. The other day I was brushing my teeth and noticed on the inside of my lips, white, flat circular dots in my mouth that appear from the side and moving to the center???

Maintenance or not - the last that I was told by my doctor was that HPV is not """generally""" transmitted from genital to oral. So when I came across this website - I'm reassured and yet angry and upset, knowing that I noticed these changes in my body and that my concerns were dismissed as nothing and that I worried for nothing.

My question is this - who do I see to get this looked at? I'm reluctant to go to a General Health Practioner and pay an office visit and get dismissive advice under the guise of manged health care. I have a PPO that allows me to self-refferal do I go look for an oral surgeon for a consultation to evaluate if it is oral cancer or hpv. Currently I'm not on a dental plan as enrollment period for it is not for another year. I'm confused and alarmed - and yet part of me is relieved that I was right to be concerned.

Any advice or suggestions that you have would be appreciated and thankyou for this forum.
