Hi. I'm a 59 year old man and had dealt with a lichen planus on my inner cheek for about ten years. It recently seemed to spread and I went to the VA hospital for a biopsy. The results were "squamous mucosa with hyperplasticity and no sign of dysplasia." It has been about four months now and it seems to flare up and get very painful. I was not given anything to treat it and they don't seem to think it's a big deal but when I try to Google it, I can find nothing but "squamous carcinoma" and I'm a little frightened, not understanding why they've not moved forward with some treatment. If it's not cancer, it seems there should be some kind of treatment to prevent the eventual possibility of it becoming malignant. At the very least I would like it gone because it causes me to lose sleep. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks so much either way...
